Proof-Editing
A hybrid service combining light
copyediting with final-stage proofreading. Ideal for manuscripts that are
nearly ready for publication but need a last polish.
Fastest turnaround & most economical option for sentence-level editing.
Note: Proof-editing is not listed in the EFA rate chart, but is priced
between copyediting and proofreading.

💲 Rates & Scheduling
My pricing is based on the Editorial Freelancers Association’s current rate guidelines (per word). Rates vary depending on manuscript length, complexity, and service type.
How quotes work:
I’ll review a sample of your manuscript and discuss your goals before providing
a custom quote. You’ll receive a clear scope of work, timeline, and rate before
we begin—no surprises.
Scheduling options:
Authors work differently, so I offer two scheduling paths:
Hard Scheduling Your project is assigned a specific start date and completion date. A scheduling fee reserves your slot, followed by a start fee when the manuscript is delivered and a completion fee at the end. This option guarantees dedicated time on my calendar and is ideal for authors who prefer firm timelines.
Soft Scheduling When your manuscript is ready, you send it with the start fee, and I work it into my schedule as time opens up. To keep the workflow flexible and manageable, I complete the project in smaller modules (project prep, mechanical edits, comment review, targeted second passes, editorial letter). The full read‑through edit—the part where I’m actually reading your story—is always done as one continuous module. This ensures I’m holding the entire narrative in my head and responding to the story as a whole.
Turnaround times:
Timelines vary by project length and service level. Manuscript evaluations and
proof-edits typically offer the fastest turnaround. I’ll provide an estimated
delivery window when we agree to work together.
