🌌 Genre Immersion & Self-Study
In addition to formal editorial training, I bring nearly five decades of immersive experience as a reader and viewer of science fiction, fantasy, and paranormal romance. Since the mid-1970s, I’ve explored these genres across books, film, and television—developing a strong sense of genre conventions, reader expectations, and narrative trends.
I’ve personally read every book listed on my Goodreads bookshelf, which contains over 1,500 titles organized by genre. This curated record reflects my lifelong engagement with speculative fiction and serves as a living archive of the stories, tropes, and techniques that shape my editorial instincts.
This ongoing self-study informs my developmental feedback, beta reading, and copyediting decisions—helping me support authors in crafting stories that resonate with their target audience.
