Writers have a wide range of feelings about AI — from “absolutely not” to “it’s part of my creative toolbox.” I respect both positions, and my editorial practice is built to support authors wherever they stand.
Here’s what you can expect when working with me:
1. Your manuscript is never put into an AI system.
I do not upload, paste, or feed
client manuscripts into AI tools.
Your work stays between you and me, exactly as our trust‑based relationship
requires.
2. I do use AI for certain non‑manuscript tasks.
AI can be helpful for:
- brainstorming approaches to a structural problem
- clarifying a style question
- generating examples or analogies
- checking the logic of a workflow
- helping me think through editorial strategies
- administrative or planning tasks that support my business
These uses never involve your actual text.
3. Your preferences come first.
If you prefer that AI not be used in any
part of your project — even indirectly — I will honor that fully.
If you’re comfortable with AI‑assisted thinking or want to explore how AI can
support your writing process, I can work within that space too.
4. My role remains fully human.
My editorial judgment, experience, and
craft are what you’re hiring.
AI is a tool I may use behind the scenes to support my thinking, not a
substitute for the work I do on your manuscript.
5. Transparency is part of my practice.
If you ever want to know how AI fits into your specific project, just ask. I’m happy to explain my process and adjust it to match your comfort level.
